Electronic Checklist for preparing print files
DIGITAL FILE SUBMISSION
- Be sure to follow all requirements listed below.
- Don't forget to send us the native file!
- Send all linked files included embedded image files.
- We'll need all fonts used in your layout.
- Send a pdf of your final file as a guideline.
- Package everything into a Stuffit or Zip file.
We can accept files on optical media such as CD or DVD or via e-mail (e-mail files are limited to 5 MB). Send files to firstname.lastname@example.org. When using either e-mail or FTP, use a compression utility such as Stuffit or Winzip to compress your files into a single archive.
Native application support is listed below. If your file is created in an unsupported program, we can accept either a postscript (.ps or .eps) or PDF created from the native application. In the event that your native application is not listed below, please contact us for more information.
Supported Native File Formats:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Indesign
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe/Macromedia Freehand
- Adobe Acrobat
- Microsoft Publisher
- Quark Xpress
Note: The use of PowerPoint, Word or other "Office" type of application is not recommended. These applications were not designed for high resolution print reproduction and can produce poor results.
FONTS & GRAPHICS:
All fonts (printer and screen) used within your document (including linked graphics) and all linked graphics/images used within your document should be supplied with your job. TrueType, OpenType, and Type 1 fonts are all acceptable.
Provide photographs and halftones in EPS, TIFF, CT or PSD formats and in either CMYK or grayscale color spaces. Images supplied in the RGB colorspace are subject to CMYK conversation therefore color shifts may occur. PICT files or Word Metafiles are not acceptable for high-resolution printing.
LASERS OR LO-RES PDFS FOR REFERENCE
Please supply a set of lasers or lo-res PDFs that represent your file at 100% of actual size as reference to how the final product should appear (not a substitue for the native file). Include the native files, fonts and links at the same time. If you desire to make (last minute) changes, this will save time as pdf files are difficult (and sometimes impossible) to alter.
Graphics – use 300 dpi (when placed at 100%)
Linework – use 1200 dpi
Failure to provide print ready high resolution graphics and files may result in a production delay or additional charges.
